sheep, goats, cattle, wheat, barley and lovely mountains. It really is a pretty drive through Swellendam, the Tradouws Pass with amazing views onto Barrydale which is also a lovely little town. It is lush and green and one cannot imagine that in a month or two when the wheat and barley is harvested that the countryside will be brown in Summer...not what we are used to in KZN.
We then came across Ronnies Sex Shop which is a pub which serves light meals!! I spoke to Ronnie who owns the place with his son running his pub and daughter running the restaurant (Ronnie sells t-shirts!!) He used to farm here but said that was hard work and the shop is much more fun. The shop all started with Ronnie painting Ronnies Shop on an old building on the side of the road where he intended having a farm stall. One day his friends painted the word sex to his sign. It stayed unused for a few years until he decided to open a pub. He and the neighbors partied for about two weeks until Ronnie decided to get serious about his business !! The pub is strewn with bras panties and t shirts donated by visitors. Such a fun place.
Drove on through Huis Pass to Oudtshoorn.
Found a lovely camp site, Oppi Dam on the road to the caves. It is really lovely with immaculate lawns and our own abultion, braai, patio and wash up area. Have Natalians camped on either side of us.! (R110pp)
