The terrain is harsh but the roads are pretty good. They have also not received their normal rainfall as yet, so things are very dry.
We did a 4X4 route which had some fairly serious sections and didn't see many animals anyway.
People we kept bumping into during our holiday have emailed inviting us for a" proper braai"(not sure what that means!)...so once again we are changing our route, instead of going home via the Free State we are going to see Ebeth and Johan in Cannon Rocks near Kenton on Sea. May spend a few days there and do some fishing (we have carted our rods with us and only used them once!)
We had an early braai and went on a night game drive with a very informative guide. We saw our first Aardwolf and many other nocturnals - spring hare(Karoo Kangaroo!) scrub hare, porcupine, wild pig, owl, bat eared fox, many black backed jackal, etc.
