Whilst having breakfast Basil noticed what looked like pebbles on the bonnet. We discovered that a pair of Chats were building their palace on the air filter entering through the engine intake on the bonnet!! Basil cleared it and before we had finished breakfast they had started rebuilding!!
Did a game drive this morning and saw our first Black Wildebeest. Came across an unusual plant, it was made up of turquoise thorns. Also came across a Meerkat on guard!
Drove up to view points above Graaf-Reinet including The Valley of Desolation. Amazing views and rock formations which formed in the Jurassic period 180-150 mill. years ago. At the top was a team of High Altitude Alien Plant Eradicators.
We decided to go off route and visit the Owl House in Nieu Bethesda a lovely old town which still has gravel roads...what a disappointment the Owl House was. I think Helen Martens who was the founder and later committed suicide must have also been off her head like her father whom she kept in a room painted black, in his later years!!
Managed to get a cancellation at Mountain Zebra Park and enjoyed a lovely Lamb Shank at their restaurant last night.
There is an elderly Swiss couple camped next to us.They are in a thin 2 man tent sleeping on the ground in thin sleeping bags..no chairs, cooking utensils etc..felt so sorry for them so gave them our hot water bottles!

Love that turquoise thorn plant. It would make a nice ornament! XX
