Another lazy start to the day despite the photo taken at sunrise. Found Information in town with a very informative lady who gave us the history and general info on Luderitz.
Drove out to the Dias Point which is very pretty with seals on the rocks. There is an old camp site and restaurant out there which must have been fantastic but has been left to go to rack and ruin. They had turned ship wrecks into shelters from the wind for the campers. We asked the Wino if we could stay and he said yes for R150 (picture shows the shower filled with beer bottles and the basin full of sand!!) They are apparently going to fix it up which will be amazing..what a spot. (Except when the wind blows - we were apparently very lucky with the weather today)
Drove around the bay and had our own dolphin show..They were jumping right out of the water and some even did back flips. We then came across flamingos on the shore and were surprised to see how long they can keep their heads under water.
There are many oyster farms here...The locals say they are the best!
The beach is covered in a variety of Limpet and Mussel shells.
Info told us to go up to the Anglican/Lutheran church at 5 pm as that is when the stain glass windows are at their best because of the setting sun. The entire church was built from materials including sand shipped in from Germany so they could feel like they had a bit of home here in SWA / Namibia. The church was built in 9 months.
Found a fish shop and bought a whole fresh kingklip for R34 per kg !!
The weather is a lot better than last night but the breeze is still very fresh.
