Woke to a chilly, cloudy, morning and dressed in our Winter woolies again.
Drove to Nababeep (The town that every Banker was threatened with transfer, if you messed up!!) Lovely Orange flowers in the town and surrounds.
Drove through the most arid country side of sand, rock and mountains. I could not image why anyone would try to live here let alone try and farm! It is stark but has its own beauty. Ooh
We are once again off our planned route and going to a camp recommended by someone we meet along the way.
We eventually reached the Orange river and the Namibian border, Vioolsdrift. Drove along the South African side where the farmers are irrigating and growing grapes, tomatoes, water melons etc. A real little oasis.
Some guy has a good sense of humour..he has at least five old cars parked along the road outside his house!!
We are back in Summer!.... had to change our clothes on arrival.
We are camped at The Growcery which is along side the river and caters for river rafting, etc...really lovely.
Had a walk around the area this afternoon and Lucy (the camp dog) accompanied us.
We are considering doing an overnight rafting trip, but will see what the weather is like tomorrow.
They have a wonderful herb garden which we have been told to help ourselves to. One other couple is also camped here and Lucy has settled in with us.
I think Basil wants to take Lucy home with us..he is so impressed with her. He is throwing her stone in the dark and she is still retrieving it.
Enjoying a braai on the river bank.

Makes me want to leave the kids with nunu & papa and go travelling again!! ;-)
